There is something special about the production of a printed piece. There is the creative process to create the image, but there is also the technique and skilled craft involved in producing a print. There is the surprise when you first lift your paper off the freshly printed plate. Although similar, no 2 pieces are ever exactly the same, making each print a unique piece.
Chantal sometimes uses print techniques in her illustrations, for example in "Fierce Grey Mouse" but in addition makes etchings, monoprints and linocuts as art pieces in their own right. Most of the prints are inspired by the local (and sometimes not so local) wildlife and nature.
Art created by print techniques stand beautifully on their own, but are also ideal for use in artists books (for example "My Omens' which you can find in the portfolio below) and for collaging into bigger pieces and illustrations as was done in "Fierce Grey Mouse".
